Trello for Counselors and Educators

I was introduced to Trello a few years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to use it properly and therefore proceeded to forgettaboutit. It wasn't until this year I was reintroduced to the wonderfulness that is Trello.

If you have no idea what Trello is. Here's a quick video explaining it:

I now use it for everything in my life that needs organizing. The uses are endless!

I have one to plan for all major family holidays, my job search, moving, meal planning, grocery shopping, vacation planning. Think of it, I'm sure someone has a Trello board for it.

Trello is online, but they also have an app! It works just like the online version too.

I now use it for everything in my life that needs organizing. The uses are endless!

Now that you're convinced it's a great tool, let me tell you how I use it at school.

In counseling I most frequently use it to keep up with my daily tasks and the counseling department. As a head of department, it is especially important to know what's going on with everyone on your team.

My first board I named "Counseling Productivity" I have a card for my Top 3 projects of the week, To Do's, Scheduled Meetings, Students I'm Seeing (regularly, or as a check up), and Resources.

Below you can click on the button to see what this board looks like. You can even copy the board by going to:

-copy board

My second board I use is for my entire department. I list our names, birthdays, favorites, contact info on one list. I then have info for any upcoming department meetings. My favorite list on this board is the Parking Lot. We are all able to collaborate very easily using this feature.

The other two lists I haven't used, but want to. Trainings. There are always some technical parts of our job where we need training. For my current school, I'm the PowerSchool Princess. I have written guides with step-by-step instructions on how to use it for someone that has no clue.

The other list is for department branding. I haven't taken this step with my department yet, but I do feel that it is important to brand a department!
